Brew, the emerging all day antipodean café chain has secured its latest site on Lower Richmond Road in Putney. The site at 162-164 Lower Richmond Road previously traded as Cantinetta and will be Brew’s biggest to date boasting a
large terrace at the font ideal for al fresco dining. To maximise the space the site will also act as a head office and production kitchen supplying the others restaurants with freshly baked bread and cakes.

Brew currently trades from sites in Wimbledon Village, Old York Road and Northcote Road as well as internationally in Los Angeles and New York. Selsian, acting on behalf of Brew, negotiated a new 15-year lease on the 2,237 sq ft property at an annual rent of £50,000 together with an undisclosed premium.


Côte, the French brasserie chain, which was recently sold to private equity firm CBPE is set to open on Battersea Rise, SW11 after acquiring the Cattle Grid.

The premises, at 35-37 Battersea Rise which totals approximately 3,175 sq ft is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment and is due to open towards the end of July.

Battersea Rise and the nearby Northcote Road Côte are continuing to flourish and Côte join a host of restaurants who have recently acquired sites in the area including The Breakfast Club, Pho and Brewdog. It is also thought that Bills have secured a site close by.

Selsian acted on behalf of Côte in the off market acquisition, agreeing an assignment of the existing sub-lease together with a reversionary lease at a passing rent of £104,000. An undisclosed premium was paid. Cattle Grid were un-represented.


Roxie Steak & Wine, the steak specialists with sites in Fulham, Putney & Earlsfield have acquired their latest site at 81 St John’s Road SW11, a stone’s throw from Northcote Road.

The 1000 sq ft restaurant which formerly traded as Café Pascucci is undergoing a full re-fit and is due to open at the beginning of August. The 45 cover restaurant will feature a more fast-casual menu and design to include takeaway. Richard, Roxie’s owner commented ‘with our newest venture, Roxie Charcoal Diner, we’ll be focused on providing excellent value for money with our “Feast for 15” offer, which will include steak, smoked brisket, chips, salad and sauce – all for £15. We’ve been looking to secure a site on or around Northcote Road for some time and we’re very much looking forward to opening Roxie’s little sister and seeing our new robata charcoal grill in action!’

Commenting on the sale, Café Pascucci owner Kiri Kiriharan, said ‘whilst this was a great site for us I made the decision to sell in order to focus on Gelato Rialto, my wholesale gelato business.’ Selsian acted on behalf of Café Pascucci agreeing an assignment of the 20 year lease at a rent of £40,000 together with an un-disclosed premium. Roxie were unrepresented.


In July 2014, Trafalgar Square will gain a new resident when The Strand Dining Rooms open as part of the redevelopment of 1-3 Grand Buildings. The all-day dining restaurant will serve a blend of traditional and contemporary British food against a quintessentially British backdrop.

The 180 cover restaurant, launched by Mark Harris, promises to become a classic all-day dining destination in the heart of the capital. Founder of Harris Restaurant Consultants, Harris has previously held positions renowned restaurants, including The Capital Hotel, Simon Parker Bowles’ Green’s Restaurant & Oyster Bar, and Searcy’s at The Gherkin. He is now offering his own vision for the London restaurant scene with The Strand Dining Rooms.

Mark Harris comments: ‘London is buzzing at the moment and I’m very excited by what will be offered at The Strand Dining Rooms. Delivering all day eating with real food, exceptional service and at all times offering value for money is very much at the core of everything I believe in. I have a great team around me, from Russell Sage Studios on the design side to 3Interiors – the contractors who will realise the design. The building of the operational team has begun in earnest in preparation for a late spring opening. I am hoping The Strand Dining Rooms will be a wonderful
addition to The Trafalgar Square area.’

The interior, delivered by designer of the moment, Russell Sage Studios, will be based on the interior of a traditional Pullman Coach and will include rich polished wood finishes and beautiful detailing. Russell Sage states: ‘We’re delighted to be supporting Mark Harris on this exciting project which is sure to be one of the stand out restaurant openings of 2014. We love Mark’s grand tradition for traditional hospitality and incredible attention to detail so look forward to contributing to a truly
magical interior which guests will love.’

Selsian acted for Skylark Restaurants Ltd in securing the premises amidst fierce competition for the site. They agreed a new 20 year lease on the 4,000 sq ft floor space off an asking rent of £300,000
