Polpo Ltd, the London-based restaurant and bar group led by Russell Norman and Richard Beatty, has secured its sixth site in the capital and its second for its eponymous brand.
The group, which opened the first Polpo site in Beak Street, Soho in 2009, has taken the lease of La Cucina in Cowcross Street, Smithfield for an undisclosed premium. The restaurant extends to approximately 2,350 sq ft / 218 sq m over ground and basement, the lease expires in 2029 and has a rent passing of £70,000 per annum exclusive.
Polpo Smithfield will offer the same core menu as its Soho and Covent Garden siblings and features bar dining, traditional restaurant seating and half a dozen outside tables. The basement will house a dedicated Negroni Bar.
“We have always loved the unique character and atmosphere of Clerkenwell and have been looking for the right site for over a year. It is also great to be so close to such an iconic working market as Smithfield.” says Russell Norman.
Property adviser Selsian brokered the deal.
